✅ Practical Test (Mod 1 & 2)
What to expect in your riding tests and how to pass
Module 1 — Off-Road Manoeuvres
💷 Cost: £15.50 | ⏱ Duration: ~20 minutes
Manoeuvres tested:
• Manual handling (wheeling the bike and using the stand)
• Slalom
• Figure of 8
• Slow ride
• U-turn
• Cornering + controlled stop
• Cornering + emergency stop
• Cornering + hazard avoidance
⚠️ Speed requirements:
• Motorcycle: at least 50 km/h (31 mph) for emergency stop and avoidance
• Moped: at least 30 km/h (19 mph)

Pass criteria: Maximum 5 riding faults (minors), 0 serious/dangerous faults
Module 2 — On-Road Riding
💷 Cost: £75 (weekday) / £88.50 (evenings/weekends/bank holidays)
⏱ Duration: ~40 minutes
What's assessed:
• Eyesight check (read a number plate from 20 metres)
• 2 "show me/tell me" safety questions
• 30-40 minutes road riding
• ~10 minutes independent riding (following sat-nav or signs)
• Various road types, speed limits, junctions, roundabouts
Pass criteria: Maximum 10 riding faults (minors), 0 serious/dangerous faults
Top Tips for Passing
• Get professional training — experienced instructors make a real difference
• For Mod 1, practice speed control and braking technique extensively
• For Mod 2, never forget "lifesaver" (over-the-shoulder) checks
• Know The Highway Code thoroughly
• Stay calm on test day, listen carefully to examiner instructions
• Know your bike's controls inside out
• Wear good quality gear — it boosts confidence
